3 months since Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy demolished my beautiful city- Long Beach NY.  I had to move out of my house with my hubby, 1 year old son and pup for 2 months.  We lived with many different relatives in the beginning because no one had power and almost all were flooded.  We then settled in with my parents for a month and a half when their power came back. It was the worst 2 months, and I am happy that I am back in my home!

I live right on the beach and wanted to share some pictures from 3 months later.

Here is the once-beautiful boardwalk right outside my house:

You can see from the picture above that the boardwalk completely buckled and it is now being demolished and will hopefully be up again in the summer.

The picture below is a HUGE pile of broken boardwalk.  The craziest part is that people keep coming by and taking pieces of it as memories.

Long Beach is up and running again, and will be back to its normal self by the summer.   On Sunday, the Polar Bear Club is still meeting for their annual Make-A-Wish swim.  My husband and sister in law do this every year.  It is a great start to our Super Bowl.

This is a very busy Sunday!! I will be watching the Polar Bear swim, going to a super bowl party and hosting a sale on TPT!  I have SOOOOO many products on my own wishlist and will be purchasing almost every, single one.  I am so excited!

I have been adding new products to my store.  I have 2 new math packs for 4th grade Common Core standards.  Check out the fraction strand here  and the measurement and geometry strands here

Have a great Superbowl weekend!!

It must be a south shore thing!)So sorry to read about your house! We have actually been making many donations to Long Beach Middle School.

  4. Wow- it is a testament to how devastating the storm was that there is still so much damage. I'm in MA and we did get some damage from Sandy, but nothing compared to what you got. I'm glad you are back home! Thanks for sharing.
