Anyone else LOVING Blabberize?

We have been using Blabberize to take out boring research reports and turn them into fun, interactive reports.

We are currently learning about Ancient Egypt and the kids are obsessed with mummies (who wouldn't be... they pull your brains through your nose with a hook).  In pairs, students used on level readings and webquests to answer questions about King Tut. They then, wrote up a report in the first person.  We used the site  http://blabberize.com/ to create these super cute reports.  It is extremely simple to use.  My students needed almost no guidance.

Here is an example:

Busy Busy Like a Spider

This week I have been so busy again! We are learning about spiders!

We are reading "Diary of  a Spider" and watching The Magic School Bus Caught Up in a Web!

Here is what our classroom door looks like:

This is all thanks to Dollar Tree! Dollar Tree is my favorite store in the whole wide world! I love their aisle on teaching products! I have gotten so many good ideas and products from there! I don't know what I would do without the Dollar Tree!!!

Enjoying my summer....Back with a new Tip(ster)

Last year I found this funny guy, singing songs about different elementary teaching tips. I have been following Teacher Tipster for a while. He has videos with songs, games, organization tips and more. One of my favorite tips is a game that can be used with ANY subject. I have used this game for multiplication facts, word wall words, state capitals and addition/subtraction facts. This game has only 1 material needed...

DIXIE CUPS!

The game is called Power Towers.  Watch this short Teacher Tipster video for more information.

3 months since Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy demolished my beautiful city- Long Beach NY.  I had to move out of my house with my hubby, 1 year old son and pup for 2 months.  We lived with many different relatives in the beginning because no one had power and almost all were flooded.  We then settled in with my parents for a month and a half when their power came back. It was the worst 2 months, and I am happy that I am back in my home!

I live right on the beach and wanted to share some pictures from 3 months later.

Here is the once-beautiful boardwalk right outside my house:

You can see from the picture above that the boardwalk completely buckled and it is now being demolished and will hopefully be up again in the summer.

The picture below is a HUGE pile of broken boardwalk.  The craziest part is that people keep coming by and taking pieces of it as memories.

Long Beach is up and running again, and will be back to its normal self by the summer.   On Sunday, the Polar Bear Club is still meeting for their annual Make-A-Wish swim.  My husband and sister in law do this every year.  It is a great start to our Super Bowl.

This is a very busy Sunday!! I will be watching the Polar Bear swim, going to a super bowl party and hosting a sale on TPT!  I have SOOOOO many products on my own wishlist and will be purchasing almost every, single one.  I am so excited!

I have been adding new products to my store.  I have 2 new math packs for 4th grade Common Core standards.  Check out the fraction strand here  and the measurement and geometry strands here

Have a great Superbowl weekend!!
